How it goes
Four steps, and the first one is the colour.
A dress at an occasion is read from thirty feet before it is read from three. So the colour is chosen first, against skin and under the light the day will actually have, and the cut is drawn to suit it. Everything after that is cloth and patience.

Chosen against skin and under the light the occasion will have. Never off a swatch book alone.
Second
The cloth
Silk satin, faille, velvet and printed twill. Weight chosen to hold a line all day.
Third
The cut
Drawn to follow the body rather than hide it, then graded across five sizes.
Last
The run
A few dozen of each, and then it is finished. No repeats the following season.
Sizing
Order two sizes. Send one back.
Buying a fitted dress online should not be a guess. Send us your measurements and we will tell you which size to take, before you order. It is quicker than posting one back, and these are cut in runs small enough that a returned dress is one somebody else could not have.
